Which is the type of Lighting system should I have installed? Low voltage or High voltage? – This is more of a preference to the customer. 99 percent of the time, the High voltage would only be used for a commercial application. This would be required to light up bigger structures, buildings or for high-security lighting. Believe it or not, Low voltage systems can be very powerful and just as effective, while only using a 12-volt system. LED lighting generally consumes about 20% of the power used by incandescent and halogen lamps, making LED technology 5 times more energy efficient. LED systems do cost more upfront, but will save you a great deal in energy operating costs.
With High voltage, the expense will be considerably much more, and there is a lot more involved in the actual install. Underground utilities must be located, and all lines must be buried in electrical conduit at least 18 inches under the ground opposed to the 4-6 inches for Low voltage. Also, all the electrical work must be done by a certified electrician, which we have on hand for your needs.
Where is the power supplied from for a Low voltage system? – They get their power from any existing outdoor receptacle. A transformer is simply plugged into the receptacle which then converts the 120 volts to 12 volts for the system.
How many options do I have have as far as light and color selection? – There are literally hundreds of different light fixtures and designs to choose from as well as a wide variety of colors, to meet your specific project. We will help you in selecting what is right for you.
If a bulb or lamp burns out are they easy to change? – Yes. Although High voltage are a bit more delicate to change anyone can do it. ( Please be sure to turn off or disconnect power before doing so on High and Low voltage fixtures or you may be at Risk OF SHOCK, INJURY or even DEATH.) When we install the system we offer you a 1 year warranty and will come back during that period to change anything that is needed.
What kind of warranty do I get when I purchase an installed system? – We offer a 1 year warranty on our labor. All parts have their own specified warranties included in the purchase of their product. Almost of the fixtures and transformers are warranted for a period of 10 years from the manufactures that we purchase from.
Are all the Lighting fixtures Waterproof? – Yes. All fixtures are water proof and weather proof. All of the fixtures are either Brass, Copper, or a powder coat paint and are sealed to protect the insides to prolong the life.
Does installing a system tear up my existing lawn, turf or landscape? – Depending on the application you will more than likely see no difference. Although if installing a High Voltage system, remember that the line had to be buried 18 inches, so in which a trench will have to be dug in order to accomplish this tasks. Low Voltage on the other hand only needs a small incision to bury the wire needed, or if buried throughout mulch beds, the wire will be right underneath the mulch. Whatever the case may be we clean up and cover up to the best of our ability before we leave your property.
How much does it cost for a lighting system? – Generally speaking, a low voltage system will usually cost starting at around $2.400.00. Please remember that each system is unique. Everyone’s house, landscape, and lighting needs are different. The system that you choose will be for your needs and specific ideas. There are different transformers for each specific job as well as lighting fixtures to suit your application. We will help you decide on the system for you. Also, remember that these are state of the art fixtures and can not be purchased at your local home improvement center. The transformers and fixtures come with a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
How long does it take to install a lighting system? – Under normal circumstances, your system can be installed in as little as 1 -2 business days. Larger, more complex projects may take a bit longer.
